Justin Smothers Consulting Engineers is a consulting firm based near Kansas City, Missouri. We serve clients across the U.S., tackling the most difficult and compelling engineering projects. We strive to provide high quality and timely solutions for our clients, relying on our many years of experience and technical expertise.

Meet The Team

Justin Smothers

Owner/Professional Engineer

Justin Smothers, PE, is the owner of JSC Engineers. He leads the firm’s commercial MEP and Piping groups. His experience includes designing systems for commercial and industrial facilities. Justin received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Justin started JSC Engineers in 2011 in Las Vegas. He returned with his family to the KC area in 2012, where he built JSC from the ground up. He loves being able to provide clients innovative and dependable engineering solutions.

When Justin is not at JSC, he’s spending quality time with his wife and kids. He can usually be caught relaxing on his boat during the summertime.

Amanda Smothers

Everything Except Engineering

Amanda Smothers is an administrator at JSC Engineers. She does everything associated with the business that is non-engineering-Billing, invoices, etc. Amanda’s number one specialty is being task oriented with attention to detail. What she loves most about her job is making it a successful business. She also likes having the flexibility to spend time with her kids, attend their school events, and volunteer in her community.

You can always catch Amanda on the weekends cheering on the JSC Royal Bluebirds soccer team and spending time with her dog Norman.

Stephen Gedert

Staff Engineer

Stephen Gedert is a Staff Engineer at JSC Engineers. He works on anything from B31 piping flexibility analysis to FEA analysts of vessel nozzle, pressure components, MEP design and drafting.

Stephen’s number one specialty is Finite element analysis of pressure components per ASME Section VIII Division 1 . He loves what he does because every job he gets comes with its own unique set of criteria, problems, and possible solutions. He also loves that the work atmosphere at JSC Engineers is focused on ethics, quality, and professional development.

When Stephen is not at JSC, he is most likely performing as a violinist with the KC Civic Orchestra. He enjoys cycling, and recently completed his first century ride.
