Mechanical MEP Engineer (Kansas City and San Diego)

We are looking for a highly motivated engineer to be part of our growing firm. The position responsibilities are primarily focused on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This requires providing technical leadership for and execution of the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. You will have the opportunity to meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues to develop effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Technical design and quality control on assigned projects
  • Running HVAC and plumbing calculations and selecting equipment
  • Production of construction documents with a focus on HVAC and plumbing systems for new buildings, renovations and additions to existing facilities
  • Creating and maintaining project schedules
  • Ability to discuss systems and equipment with architects, owners, and contractors
  • Providing coordination of project designs with other disciplines
  • Maintaining positive client relationships
  • Ability to occasionally go to job sites and collect relevant information

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • PE License and at least 2+ years of relevant building systems design experience

-or- In lieu of a PE License, possess at least 6+ years of closely related HVAC design experience within the MEP industry

  • Possess PM or Lead experience – Ability to handle projects from start to finish and jump in with design when needed
  • Ability to interact with clients both verbally and in writing to throughout entire life cycle of projects
  • Have knowledge of building mechanical codes and the ability to perform accurate load calculations
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and MS office suite (Word & Excel)
  • The ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design
  • Experience with Revit or BIM preferred but not required
