Project Profile
Milestone Reservoir & Pump Station – 42-Inch River Water Pipeline Supports
Delegated Design
Redesign and qualification of galvanized supports for a 42-inch river water pipeline at the Milestone Reservoir and Pump Station.
The Work
Project Overview
After the original support submittal for a 42-inch river water pipeline was returned for revision, the steel fabricator engaged JSC Engineers to establish a complete engineering basis. JSC analyzed the pump station gallery's 42-inch carbon steel piping in CAESAR II for deadweight, thermal, pressure, operating, seismic, and wind load cases per ASME B31.3 and ASCE 7-16. The team validated galvanized saddle-and-strap supports at approximately fifteen locations, plus additional supports for 36-inch piping. The highest-loaded saddle was qualified by finite element analysis in FEPipe under combined vertical, shear, and axial reactions. JSC also engineered stainless steel anchor bolts for the concrete pedestals and issued a sealed package with the restraint summary, stress results, support calculations, and anchorage design.
