The Work
Project Overview
As one of four pipe support engineering firms pre-approved in the project specifications, JSC Engineers provided delegated design for the City of Wichita Plant 2 Package 2 improvements. The work covered the Screening and Handling Room, Primary Clarifiers, Thickening Facility, Digester Facility, and Odor Control areas. Systems included stainless steel digester gas piping, lined ductile iron sludge services, and plant process water. JSC analyzed the piping in CAESAR II to ASME B31.1 and the specified minimum 5x safety factor. The models produced restraint loads and thermal displacements for every support, and concrete anchorage was designed to ACI 318 cracked-concrete criteria.
