Project Profile
Renewable Feedstock Facility – Modular Pipe Rack Stress Analysis
Pipe Stress Analysis
Pipe stress analysis and shipping support design for a shop-modularized process pipe rack at a Gulf Coast renewable feedstock facility.
The Work
Project Overview
JSC Engineers analyzed medium-pressure steam and process piping in a shop-modularized pipe rack for a major renewable feedstock processing facility on the Gulf Coast. The owner's engineer's criteria incorporated ASME B31.3-2022 requirements for wind, seismic, hydrotest, relief valve reactions, steam hammer, vibration screening, and flange leakage. JSC placed anchors at the rack bents, compared expansion loop configurations to minimize loop count, and engineered shipping supports so fully piped modules could travel from the fabrication shop to the site. The systems included 16-inch, 10-inch, and 4-inch steam and process lines coordinated at tie points with the owner's engineering team.
